Illegal street racing is dangerous

A safe and secure Colorado requires the joint effort of all community members. Illegal street racing is a dangerous activity that puts everyone's lives at risk when the racers utilize public roadways. Illegal street racing shows a complete disregard for the safety of others and claims innocent lives every year. 

When we report illegal street racing, we can help law enforcement dedicate resources to areas that are hardest hit by this public endangering nuisance.

What does illegal street racing look like?

 Illegal street racing may include the following behaviors:

  • Large groups or gathering of vehicles meeting up in public areas, parking lots, or warehouses who, as a group, plan and race to the next meetup location
  • Modifications of vehicles designed to increase the vehicle's speed, sound, and appearance and/or traveling in large groups on the roadways, creating traffic issues, and driving at high rates of speed
  • Squealing of tires, revving of engines and loud exhaust that can be heard from miles away
